What is the size of the Alton community and surrounding areas?
Alton Proper is approximately 35,000 people. There are many connecting areas that are add another 73,000 people to the primary service area of Alton Memorial Hospital. Our secondary market pulls another 170,000 people from surrounding areas.

Is the hospital's financial outlook strong?
Currently Alton Memorial Hospital is undergoing an 86,000 square foot expansion, which includes 76 single patient, state-of-the-art rooms. The hospital and Alton Memorial Health Foundation were able to raise all of the money to build this newest addition.

How many beds does the hospital have?
The hospital currently has 220 beds in the hospital. When the new wing is open, 76 of the beds from the current Medical and Surgical floors will be moved to the new bed tower.

What type of community is Alton?
The Alton community is a bedroom community for St. Louis. Several industries are located in the area, including Olin Corporation, which produces brass and, ConocoPhillips, which is beginning a 4 Billion dollar expansion project.
